Dad fighting for life in coma as wife is due to give birth

A man is fighting for his life after he started to feel unwell while at work.

Joe Ashley, from Huyton, suffered a bleed on the brain last week after falling ill at work. An ambulance was called and the 36-year-old was taken to Warrington Hospital but then transferred to The Walton Centre.

Speaking to the ECHO, Joe's sister Robyn Harrison said: "It's really upsetting and I think it is because of the kids is the worst part of everything.

"He is just an amazing dad. I know everybody says that, but he really is and I think it is just so awful on his little girl, who is six. It's just awful for her but she doesn't know anything yet, she just thinks her dad is working away."

Man left with £1,500 damage to luxury mansion after handyman fitted shelves in the dark

A businessman's home has been left with around £1,500 worth of damage after a handyman fitted shelves in the dark.

Dave Kirk, who is in his 40s, completed on his home in Heswall in August 2022. He told the ECHO the LA-style mansion is "perfect" however, the damage caused after work carried out by a handyman, which he enlisted to fit some shelves via IKEA service Taskrabbit, has been "disruptive" for his family.

He said: "The whole experience was a bit of a shambles. IKEA had the shelves in store in Warrington, but no brackets, so I ordered them online. There was an option to get them fitted so I clicked it."

Balaclava yobs found hiding in bushes at South Liverpool high school

A group of yobs wearing balaclavas were found hiding in the bushes on the grounds of St Julie's High School.

The group had attempted to break into Woolton school on Thursday, October 27. When officers arrived, police dog Rita quickly spotted three youths "trying to hide in the bushes".

A Merseyside police spokesperson said: "A report was received at around 4.45pm that a group of males wearing balaclavas had jumped over the wall of St Julies High School in Woolton. Two males and one female under the age of 18 were located on the grounds of Woolton Hall next to the school."
