Dad drunkenly attacked neighbour with hammer believing he bugged his home

A man hit his neighbour in the head with a hammer in the drunken belief that he had bugged his home.

Andrew Sharp pulled the weapon from inside his trousers after waking his victims in the early hours. They were forced to fend off his blows with a chair after he forced his way into their home.

Liverpool Crown Court heard today, Tuesday, that occupants Kieran O'Flaherty and Helen Ireland were asleep at their home on Shrewsbury Place in Garston at around 3am on February 9 this year when they were woken by the sound of the 38-year-old kicking their garden gate off its hinges. When the former shouted out the window to ask Sharp what he was doing, he replied: "I don't know what you're into, what is it you little juicehead?"
