Dad dies just days after his 40th birthday after going to hospital with leg pains

A man who went into hospital with leg pains died just days after his 40th birthday when the pain turned out to be cancer.

Just before Christmas last year, Darren Mason, from St Helens, Liverpool, went into hospital for pains in his leg, and was later diagnosed with bowel cancer.

Darren knew he carried the Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP) gene and faced uncertainty and tests throughout his life because of it.
