A family has been left heartbroken after an "amazing" dad died alongside his beloved pet dog when they were both hit by a car. Craig Dixon had been out walking his dog Duchess in North Yorkshire when they were reportedly hit by a silver Citroen C3 on Friday, December 2.
Members of the public who were also in Westgate in Guisborough when the crash happened at around 4.40pm rushed to help Craig, 39, and call 999, YorkshireLive reports. Medics arrived and took him to hospital but sadly he passed away.
Duchess also passed away from her injuries. A man, aged 38, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, Cleveland Police said.
As police urge anyone who has dashcam footage or saw what happened to come forward, the devastated friends and family of Craig have shared their shock at the death of the "amazing" dad, who had two daughters. He was called a "legend" by friends who are mourning his loss.
