A dad has described scenes 'like a war zone' in a children's hospital, with kids 'sprawled all over the floor' and queues out of the door in the latest shocking symbol of the crisis in the NHS.
The worried dad was concerned after his two-year-old child broke out into a large rash. After being unable to get seen through the NHS 111 service or at a walk-in centre, he headed to the Accident and Emergency department at Alder Hey Children's Hospital on Sunday afternoon.
When he arrived, the dad - who has asked not to be named - joined many others in queuing outside the A&E department for 40 minutes, his child would not be triaged for a further hour.
