Anything can happen in the NFL – and the last few weeks have definitely proven that – but the idea that the Seahawks should trade wide receiver D.K. Metcalf this offseason is simply ludicrous. Metcalf is just 24 years old and entering his prime years as an athlete. He’s also expected to sign a massive contract extension that will make him the highest-paid player on the roster now that Russell Wilson is with the Broncos.
That won’t stop the rumor mill, which has never been churning out nonsense faster than these last few days. Several “insiders” have “reported” that Seattle is looking to deal Metcalf, but we don’t see it happening. Their latest bright idea is the Chiefs might try to trade for Metcalf after sending Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins for a boatload of draft picks.
Metcalf closed the door on that idea on Twitter last night in pretty hilarious fashion. Here’s how he responded when one Kansas City fan invited him.
Better close it, heard it get cold at night 😂 https://t.co/wkdg2FG6nZ

That’s good tweeting.
Metcalf led the Seahawks with 12 touchdowns last season despite playing through a significant foot injury for most of the year.
Head coach Pete Carroll says the team will try hard to re-sign him before the 2022 season begins.
