D’Angelo Russell will not return vs. Rockets due to left foot soreness

Although the Los Angeles Lakers have grown considerably healthier lately, they still have had problems with the old injury bug.

In Friday’s big win at the Minnesota Timberwolves, Anthony Davis went down with what appeared to be a sprained ankle in the third quarter. He spent multiple possessions on the ground writhing in pain, and fans likely feared his season was over.

But he remained in the game, and he ended up playing his best ball afterward. He finished with 38 points and 17 rebounds.

D’Angelo Russell had six points and four assists in the first half of Sunday’s contest against the Houston Rockets, but he will not return for the second half because of left foot soreness.

Russell has already missed eight games since being traded to the Lakers in February due to two ailments.

Needless to say, another significant injury to a key player is the last thing the surging Lakers need.
