Cyriel Dessers defies Rangers criticism: 'Even the best miss chances'

Cyriel Dessers remains undeterred by the scrutiny surrounding his performance at Rangers, confidently asserting that the pressure to convert goalscoring opportunities is a challenge faced by even the top strikers in the world.

Dessers netted his ninth goal of the 2024/25 campaign on Thursday to help Rangers earn a credible away draw against Olympiacos in the Europa League

The 29-year-old, who has featured 19 times this season, has never shied away from expressing his belief in both his abilities and the potential of his teammates.

He also candidly acknowledges that if he were to significantly improve his finishing, he might not have found his place in Glasgow.

“This is life as a striker," the Rangers talisman told reporters. "I was watching the Champions League this week, and I see unbelievable strikers miss chances. So who am I, as Cyriel Dessers, not to miss chances?

"Obviously, you’re always going to miss more than you score. That’s the life of a striker. You know that there will always be a perception about that, but that’s life. If I would score three chances every game then I would probably not be at Rangers either."
