Cyndi Lauper uses this wallcovering to tap into summer's most vibrant trend – but it will impress over every season

Cyndi Lauper.

Cyndi Lauper is synonymous with vibrancy. The Girls Just Wanna Have Fun singer is best known for her eclectic outfits and empowering lyrics, so it's no surprise that this bold sensibility has translated into her interiors. In fact, her wall decor happens to tap into a very timely trend: urban jungle.

In a recent TikTok, the award-winning singer-songwriter, whose documentary Let the Canary Sing has just been released, sits in front of her botanical-print wallpaper. The wallpaper is neutral and adorned with images of tropical leaves and flowers. It fits right into a summery trend that invites the indoors in.

Known as the 'urban jungle trend,' this design movement is perfect for those who want to infuse their homes with natural elements but would like to incorporate a design that is slightly more daring than something like Japandi. Decorating with botanicals or animal prints is a great way to achieve this look.

'With a jungle theme, it’s no surprise to see an explosion of animal prints, animal décor, and safari-themed art,' explains Johanna Constantinou, a design specialist at Tapi. 'You can incorporate the jungle with animal décor by buying animal sculptures and printed fabrics for cushion covers.' And color-wise, neutrals and greens reign supreme.

'With the urban jungle theme comes the gorgeous earth color palette,' Constantinou says. 'Think earthy tones such as leafy, sage, brown, beige olive, and eucalyptus paired with herbaceous greens.'

Lauper's wallpaper follows this scheme to a tee, with a beige base, plenty of greens, and some flecks of orange and yellow.

The urban jungle design trend is also a rare blend of providing soothing, natural elements while remaining vibrant and engaging thanks to prints and colors.

'The trend is a nod to our natural surroundings and can be used in all rooms of the home,' she states. 'For bedrooms, having a touch of green and outside can be beneficial in helping you wind down before the end of the day. In bathrooms, it can help to create a calming atmosphere, perfect for when you want to relax during a bath.'
