A cyclist who died in a hit-and-run in Bolton has been named as Keith Brady, as an inquest opened into his death.
Mr Brady, a 41-year-old factory worker, had been cycling towards the town centre at the time of the collision, Bolton Coroner's Court heard. His bike was struck by a 'motor vehicle' and the driver of the vehicle left the scene after the incident, police coroner's officer Andrew Pickles told the hearing.
"On 17 October 2022, Mr Brady was cycling on Chorley New Road, Bolton, heading towards Bolton town centre," Mr Pickles said. "A motor vehicle has then struck the rear wheel of the bicycle - this has caused Mr Brady to be thrown onto the windscreen of the vehicle.

"The vehicle didn't stop. Mr Brady was taken to Salford Royal Hospital where he was pronounced deceased the same day."
Mr Pickles told the hearing that Mr Brady was formally identified by his father on October 19. Following a post mortem, pathologist Dr Wilson recorded 'head injuries' as the provisional cause of death.
A police investigation continues into the collision and Mr Brady's death, Mr Pickles confirmed. Last week, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that a 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving, prior to Mr Brady's death.
"A 35-year-old man was arrested later that evening, prior to the cyclist’s passing, on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving," a GMP spokesman said. "He has been released under investigation, whilst enquiries into the collision continue."
Area coroner Prof Dr Alan Walsh asked for statements from Mr Brady's GP, Salford Royal Hospital, and GMP. He adjourned the inquest until the conclusion of the police investigation.
