An appeal for information that could help police identify a cyclist that left an elderly woman seriously injured has been launched by West Yorkshire Police.
A 77-year-old woman was on the pavement at the junction of King George Avenue and Harrogate Road in Chapel Allerton, Leeds at the beginning of last month. She was hit by a cyclist who then rode away from the scene shortly after 10am on February 1.
The elderly woman was left with a head and leg injury that she needed hospital treatment for and has been left needing to undergo continuing recuperative care following the careless incident. And now police are appealing for information that could help them identify and track down the person who was on the bicycle.

To help with the investigation, officers have released CCTV images of a cyclist who was seen in the same area at around the same time it happened. The Images show what appears to be a white male wearing a dark coloured coat, a blue top and an orange beanie hat, the bike frame that they are riding is dark in colour.
Despite the images being low quality, police are hoping that a member of the public will recognise the person from the clothing or the type of bike. Anyone who thinks they have information that can help officers with the investigation can contact PC 3093 Surtees on 101 quoting reference 13230060995.
Information can also be submitted online at www.westyorkshire.police.uk/101livechat or via Crimestoppers 0800 555 111, quoting the same reference above.
