Cyclist, 23, dies after collision with car on busy east London road

A cyclist has died after a collision with a car on a busy east London road.

The incident occurred on January 14 on Commercial Road in Tower Hamlets at 12:45 pm.

Metropolitan Police officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service, where they found a 23-year-old cyclist with serious injuries.

The young man was taken to the hospital, and despite the best efforts of hospital staff, he died on January 19.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit.

No arrests have been made, and enquiries remain ongoing.

Detective Sergeant Kirsty Troy, leading the investigation, said: “This was a tragic incident, and our thoughts remain with the young man’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.

“We are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision and would urge anyone who witnessed what happened, or who may have dash‑cam or CCTV footage from the area at the time, to come forward as soon as possible.”

Police have asked anyone with information to call 101 or message @MetCC on X, quoting CAD 3291/14JAN26.
