NEW DELHI: For 30 minutes on Monday, India's stickwork took hockey aficionados back to the past. It was scintillating as well as silky. In the backdrop of the University of Birmingham campus, the Englishmen looked like freshmen in a hockey class.
The home crowd bobbed anytime an English stick tapped the ball forward. But for most part of the first two quarters, those taps followed odd retrieves after an Indian attack.
