He was taken into kennels after his owner died - and has been overlooked by everyone who has come to visit him.
Staffordshire bull terrier Hughie has been up for adoption with Senior Staffy Club, in Stoke-on-Trent, since January - and desperately needs somebody to offer him a place in their home.
The seven-year-old has been described as a "loving" dog who enjoys spending time with his favourite humans.
Julia Kaminski of Senior Staffy Club told The Mirror : "Hughie is aged seven, sure; but he has the body and spirit of a much younger dog.
"Despite being adorable, loving, full of fun and zest for life, he has not been what our ‘customers’ have been looking for; they think they are going to get ‘an old plodder’, but Hughie is nothing of the sort.

"He wants to walk, and play, and learn new tricks, all the while flashing his big smile and charming you with his affection. He likes his treats too, naturally, and puzzles and games."
Hughie needs an active home with lots of company - but cannot share his home with other pets.
Julia added: "Hughie has now been with the rescue for a little while and all the volunteers are desperate to see him find his new home. Could that be you?"
Set up by Kate Lee in 2012, Senior Staffy Club has been striving to rescue and rehome Staffordshire bull terriers and their crossbreeds who are aged seven and above.
A statement reads: "Kate adopted two senior Staffies separately – the adorable Buster who had been waiting for eight months in kennels for a new home, and the beautiful Madge who was in the dog pound and due to be put to sleep.
"Buster and Madge adored one another and were best pals until sadly Buster passed away. Both dogs were never any trouble – house trained, not destructive, good with people and other dogs, so why did they spend all that time waiting?
"Simply because they were Senior Staffies.
"Hence the Senior Staffy Club was formed to help all the other dogs like Buster and Madge who were still searching for rescue help and new homes. "
