- Manchester Airport Group (MAG), operator of Manchester Airport, London Stansted, and East Midlands Airport , has confirmed a cybersecurity breach by an unauthorised third party that led to the personal data of around 8.7 million customers being accessed.
- The compromised information primarily consists of customer email addresses gathered from terminal wifi registrations, as well as phone numbers, vehicle registration numbers, and postcodes linked to car park, lounge, and fast-track bookings.
- MAG confirmed that no financial or banking details were exposed during the cyber attack , as neither the operator nor the targeted system holds customer payment information.
- Passenger safety and aviation security were not compromised, and flight schedules, terminal operations, and parking services across all three affected locations remain fully operational.
- The airport operator immediately contained the cybersecurity risk, apologised for any concern caused, and is working alongside specialist advisers and relevant authorities to safeguard customer data.
