Cumbernauld Colts boss David Proctor hopes last night's shock win over Lowland League title hopefuls East Kilbride can be the spark to fire them up the table in 2023.
The Broadwood boss watched his side, who side 14th in the table, enjoy a comfortable evening against his former club.
And it was two former East Kilbride men who came back to haunt them with ex-Kilby midfielders Graeme Holmes and Billy Mortimer netting in the first half to earn them a 2-0 victory, ending 2022 on a real high.
Now Proctor hopes that will be a catalyst for his side heading into the new year and Wednesday night's home clash with East Stirlingshire.
Proctor said: "It was a solid performance. We were quite comfortable throughout the game.
"At 2-0 East Kilbride were always going to have a wee spell, putting us under pressure, but most of the play was in front of us so we never felt under too much pressure.
"It was a fair result over the piece. Their goalkeeper was arguably man of the match so it could have been more because we hit the woodwork a couple of times as well.
"I'm really pleased with the performance and hopefully this can be a real springboard for us to kick up the league.
"It is the most disciplined performance of the season, where everyone did their jobs to the best of their ability.
"We broke at them at pace and really exploited some of the spaces that East Kilbride had left.
"We worked really well and it was quite a satisfying result, ending the year with a win, and hopefully we start the new year on a positive as well."
It's a result that puts a dent in East Kilbride's title hopes, leaving them sixth in the table having played two games more than fifth-place Stirling Uni who they are level on points with.
And Proctor, who won the title twice when he was at K-Park, added: "I just tried to treat it as any other game.
"After the final whistle, I wished East Kilbride all the best and I hope that this the year they can go and kick on.
"It's nice to beat a team who are one of the favourites for the league.
"There is no hiding away from the fact it was an enjoyable victory in that sense, but with it being against my old team I still want them to do well.
"I wish them all the best for the rest of the season."
