Cullercoats kayakers 'totally amazed' as dolphins leap right past their craft

A group of kayakers were left stunned by an up-close encounter with a pod of playful dolphins near Cullercoats.

And they managed to capture the magical moment the sea creatures leapt from the water right by their craft in this incredible video.

Phil Douglass spotted the tell-tale fins in the water around a mile offshore as he paddled out from the North Tyneside coast at 7.30 on Wednesday night. Reaching for his camera, he was able to record them jumping gracefully into the air from the waves.
