The Cubs had themselves a wild Fourth of July, which ended with their manager David Ross absolutely crushing the umpires in a brutally honest, and profane, postgame interview.
The Cubs blew a four-run lead to the Brewers but were able to shake that off and get a 7–6 win in 11 innings in Milwaukee.
Still, Ross was not pleased with the umpires, who made a number of bad calls (for both teams) and for some reason allowed the stadium to close the roof late in the game even though it was a mostly sunny day in Milwaukee.
