Valve has fully rolled out Animgraph 2 to live Counter-Strike 2 servers, bringing a sweeping animation overhaul alongside gameplay and performance improvements in the latest update.
The April 20 CS2 update pushes all changes from the Animgraph 2 beta build, first introduced on April 2, to the main game. The update includes refined viewmodel animations, adjustments to weapon deploy logic, fixes for knife attack transitions, and more changes in response to community feedback.
CS2 update today (April 20): Animgraph 2 brings animation changes
Animgraph 2 marks the full release of Valve’s reworked animation system, following an earlier first-person animation update released in July 2025 that focused on weapon deploy, firing, reload, and inspect animations for all guns.
With this rollout, Valve worked on some key changes, including viewmodel animation adjustments, faster or smoother weapon deploys, improved knife transition behavior, and fixes affecting third-person weapon interactions.

The update also targets technical improvements. By lowering CPU and networking demands tied to animation systems, Valve is aiming to improve overall game performance while making player movement appear crisper and more consistent.
Other gameplay-related fixes tied to the broader Animgraph 2 rollout include fixes for certain ladder exploits and grenade glitches, slope smoothing, and patches for issues such as halftime crashes when transitioning from CT to T side.
Initial reactions from players suggest some noticeable differences in gameplay feel, particularly around movement and peeking. Some early users have described peeks as more responsive, while others have noted that some changes have not been implemented as expected.
Valve is continuing to gather feedback from players, and further adjustments could follow as players spend more time with the animation system.
CS2 fans clamor for Cache, but Valve says no

While many players welcomed the Animgraph 2 rollout, some fans were hoping the update would also bring back Cache, one of the most requested maps still absent from the active CS2 pool.
That did not happen though, as Valve confirmed the map is not included in this release.
For now, the update remains focused squarely on Animgraph 2 and performance refinements rather than content additions. You can check out the official CS2 patch notes.
