Crystal Palace vs Chelsea latest as Storm Eunice rips through London amid red warning

Chelsea are finally set to get back to Premier League this weekend as they travel to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace.

The Blues have not been in domestic league action since their 2-0 victory over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the end of January, goals from Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Silva securing victory.

Despite that, Thomas Tuchel’s men have been very busy over the past few weeks. They at first booked their place in the next round of the FA Cup with a win against Plymouth Argyle before then jetting off to Abu Dhabi to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Of course, the Blues were victorious having just edged past Brazilian outfit Palmeiras in the final - claiming their third trophy since Tuchel arrived in west London.

Now, all of their focus can return to the Premier League and their task on rubber-stamping their place in the top four - their next assignment being against Crystal Palace.

Ahead of the game, there have been some doubts over whether the clash in Croydon would be able to go ahead.

Chelsea Under-23s match with Tottenham Hotspur on Friday night was postponed due to the high winds of Storm Eunice, with some worrying that the Blues’ trip to Selhurst Park could fall to the same fate.

However, as of the time of writing, the match is scheduled to go ahead as planned, with the weather forecast to abate by Saturday morning.

That news will of course be a big boost to Chelsea who still have their Premier League home matches with Arsenal and Leicester City still to reschedule.

As it stands ahead of the clash with the Eagles, Chelsea sit third in the current standings and seven points behind Liverpool.

Elsewhere, Patrick Vieira’s men occupy 13th position and are aiming to win their first league game since a 3-0 victory over Norwich City in late December.

The Blues of course won the reverse leg between the two sides this season - running out 3-0 victors on the opening day of the campaign.
