Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha joins former Arsenal and Bournemouth players in buying club

Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha has joined a list of professional footballers involved with football clubs in Ivory Coast.

According to local media via Sport Witness, Zaha has joined with his brother Carin to purchase Ivorian outfit Espoir Club D’Abengourou, with his brother becoming vice-president.

Palace winger Zaha, who has his own charitable foundation and a football academy in south London, has 28 caps for the Ivory Coast since changing his nationality in 2017, and he is currently away on international duty with the Elephants.

The Crystal Palace winger's brother was quoted as saying: “We have an U19 academy. We will play in the Division d’Honneur this season. The objective is obviously to go up, but first we want our youngsters to be in good shape and gain experience.”

Zaha becomes the latest player to be involved with clubs in Ivory Coast, with former Arsenal winger Gervinho and ex-Bournemouth player Max Gradel both owning clubs in the African country, while Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie has a training centre in the country.
