Crystal Palace: Oliver Glasner confirms stance on Marc Guehi future amid January transfer links

Oliver Glasner expects Marc Guehi to stay at Crystal Palace this month.

The England centre-back has been Palace’s on-field captain all season. In the summer, Newcastle had at least four bids for the 24-year-old rejected, with the Eagles holding firm on their valuation of him of £70million.

Newcastle and Liverpool are two clubs who retain a long-standing interest in Guehi, but it remains to be seen whether Palace receive any fresh approaches for him this month.

Asked whether he expects to keep Guehi past deadline day, Glasner responded: “I think so. No player from our squad came to me and said [they] want to leave. No one.

“No one that played all the games, all the minutes, like Marc, and no one from the players who didn’t play so many minutes. This is the most relevant part: what the player tells me.”

The Austrian added: “If one is coming and says they want to leave and both clubs find an agreement, I think it will happen. But as long as a player doesn’t come — and Marc didn’t come — I am really not concerned he will leave.

“January 31 is a long time [away], and I know I will have to answer this question several times. You will hear the same answer again.”

Guehi is contracted to Palace until the summer of 2026. They have no optional one-year extension clause in the contract.
