Crystal Palace not giving up on Wilfried Zaha as star man attracted by Saudi Arabia move

Patrick Vieira insists Crystal Palace have not given up on convincing Wilfried Zaha to stay, as the forward weighs up a £200,000-a-week offer to join Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia.

Zaha is out of contract at the end of the season and he has been sounded out about a lucrative free transfer to the Saudi Pro League in the summer.

Al-Ittihad, who are managed by Nuno Espirito Santo, are said to have offered Zaha a deal worth £9million per season.

AC Milan also have interest in Zaha, who is open to the idea of becoming the next big-name player to move to Saudi Arabia.

Zaha is considering his future but Palace are not giving up hope that the 30-year-old will sign a contract extension.

Vieira said: “On our side we will do everything to keep him at the club.

“Everybody knows we want to keep Wilfried but it will be his decision and, like you, we are waiting to see what he will do.”

Zaha recently returned from injury and Vieira says the immediate focus is getting their star man back to his best.

Palace have been dragged into a relegation battle after 10 Premier League games without a win.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s game away at bitter rivals Brighton, Vieira said: “The priority at the moment is focusing on the games and having him back to his best to help the team perform better and perform well. I want everybody to be focusing only on that.”
