An ASDA worker sprung to the aid of a customer in tears, telling the crying woman to 'follow her'. Sue, who works in an Ellesmere Port store in Cheshire, was approached by a woman with two young children in something of a state of distress.
The customer had asked Sue if anything had been handed in as she couldn't locate a £20 note needed to pay her electricity bill for that month but the experienced worker, after checking nothing had been given to staff, stepped up, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Colleagues revealed that Sue instructed the woman using her 25 years of experience working for the supermarket chain to resolve the problem. She took the woman to a cash point and gave her £10 of her own money.
Adele, the store's community champion, said: "The lady has young children, so when Sue asked her what she had needed the money for, the lady replied ‘for electric’. Sue, out of the kindness of her own heart, then replied ‘follow me' and took her to the cashpoint in the store, took £10 from her own bank account, and gave it to the customer."
The woman appreciated Sue's gesture so much that she returned to the store the following day. Adele added: "The lady was taken aback by her kindness. She was so grateful that she returned to store the next day to give Sue back her £10."
Sue’s manager Caroline, who has nominated her for an Asda service superstar award, added: “I am so proud of Sue and her amazing random act of kindness, you are such a credit to our store."
