Crude Prices Underpinned by Middle Eastern Geopolitical Risks

Sep WTI crude oil (CLU24) today is up +1.47 (+1.91%), and Sep RBOB gasoline (RBU24) is up +2.39 (+1.00%).

Crude oil and gasoline prices today climbed to 1-week highs and are moderately higher.  Rising geopolitical risks in the Middle East that could cause a disruption to the region's crude supplies are underpinning crude prices on fears of an imminent attack against Israel by Iran in response to last month's assassination of a Hamas leader by Israel in Iran.  Today's rally in the S&P 500 to a 1-week high also boosts confidence in the economic outlook, which is positive for energy demand and crude prices.
