Drivers have been warned to avoid a key route near Bristol city centre after a crowd partially blocked the road. Bristol City Council sent out a warning on Saturday (July 1) afternoon after a crowd at Turbo Island spilled out onto one side of the carriageway.
The surrounding Bristol neighbourhoods have been bustling with people throughout the day for the return of St Pauls Carnival. People have been asked to take extra care when driving through Stokes Croft on Saturday evening.
On Twitter, the city council said: "A crowd gathered at Turbo Island (junction of Jamaica Street and Stokes Croft) is spilling out onto the road, blocking one lane of the highway. If you are travelling through the area please take extra care."

Thousands of people attended St Pauls Carnival on Saturday (July 1) for the event's first full return in three years. Traffic has been building in the area as people begin to leave the event.
Traffic reporting system Inrix said: "Very slow traffic due to St Paul's Carnival on B4052 Sussex Place Southbound from Sevier Street to B4051 Ashley Road. Traffic is advised to avoid the area as there are road closures in place."
The event officially ends at 10pm but there are also three after parties that will last long into the night. This year's carnival pays homage to Bristol Bus Boycott activist and Carnival forefather, Roy Hackett MBE, who passed away in August last year and celebrates the 75th anniversary of Windrush. The 'Learning from Legends' theme has inspired attractions like the Windrush Bus which kicked off the procession.
