Gerwyn Price lifted the roof at Blackpool's Winter Gardens as he threw a nine-dart finish to progress to his first World Matchplay final.
The highlight of Price's dominant display was a nine-dart finish in the 13th leg to set a record as the first player to hit four televised nine-darters in a calendar year. He had raced into a five-leg lead early on and never lost his advantage despite a spirited comeback from UK Open champion Danny Noppert.
Welshman Price, The Iceman, ended the semi-final on Saturday as the winner of the 17-11 encounter and he will now face Michael van Gerwen in the final on Sunday evening.
His nine-darter saw the crowd go wild with celebrations in Blackpool, a welcome change for Price who often faces hostility from supporters on the road.
"I'm over the moon and relieved as well," said Price. "I've probably played some of my best darts in this tournament."
Price, 37, is now aiming to become the first Welsh player to lift the Phil Taylor Trophy. "There's a lot more in the tank and I need to find my A game [on Sunday] but my main priority is to bring the trophy home to Wales," he added.
Dutchman Michael van Gerwen overcame Dimitri Van den Bergh 17-14 to contend his fourth World Matchplay final.
"It's going to be a great battle between me and Gerwyn and the best man wins, it's as simple as that," Van Gerwen said.
It comes after Price regained his world number one spot following his quarter-final win over Portugal's Jose De Sousa on Friday.
