Croke Park vaccination centre reopens- here’s how to apply for your booster

The HSE has confirmed that the Croke Park vaccination centre has reopened ahead of a likely spike in Covid-19 cases this winter.

The centre was previously closed on September 24. The decision to close was made after 90% of the population received protection against Covid-19. However, it has now been decided to reopen the centre as the vaccine rollout ramps up ahead of winter.

People who are eligible for their first, second or third booster dose, as well as people who have not yet been vaccinated, can apply through the HSE for an appointment. The cohorts currently eligible for a third booster include those aged over 65 and immunocompromised people aged 12-64.

The Minister for Health previously encouraged people to come forward for their booster doses ahead of a potential increase in both Covid and flu infections this winter. There were 1,397 cases of Covid-19 registered on October 4, the majority of which were detected through antigen testing.

While eligibility for a third booster is limited to only two groups, anyone aged over 12 who has not received their first booster dose can apply to receive one. The cohorts that qualify as of now for a second booster dose include anyone aged over 50, healthcare workers, people aged over 12 with serious health conditions and people who are at least 16 weeks pregnant.

The HSE asks people making their appointment to have their mobile phone number, email address, Eircode and PPS number available on hand when booking. Covid vaccinations are always free.

Further information about the HSE’s vaccine campaign is available here. People who are having problems booking online are asked to contact the HSE at 1800 700 700.
