Cristiano Ronaldo trolled by Liverpool airport after Manchester United transfer request

Cristiano Ronaldo has been offered a way out of his Manchester United nightmare, but he won't have to queue for hours to do it.

The legendary football great sent shockwaves through the Premier League earlier this week after it was revealed that the former Real Madrid star wishes to leave Old Trafford this summer, should the club receive an acceptable offer from elsewhere. But with capacity issues causing misery for people trying to escape Manchester via its seemingly overstretched airport, Liverpool John Lennon Airport has taken the opportunity to come to the global superstar's rescue.

Posting a cheeky Tweet on Wednesday morning, Liverpool Airport wrote: "Itching to get out of Manchester, but want to avoid the queues? We happily invite @Cristiano to try the North West's Faster, Easier, Friendlier Airport, where he can connect on to Munich or Lisbon with Lufthansa, or fly Ryanair direct to Paris or Rome."

Given that Ronaldo's current contract with Manchester United is likely to include a significant number of add-ons, a flight with Ryanair might suit the five-times Ballon d'Or winner best, but at the time of writing neither Paris Saint-Germain or AS Roma are understand to have made an offer for his services.

The 37-year-old only signed a two-year contract to return to Manchester last summer, but he is now seemingly intent on getting in the fast-track queue out of Old Trafford after the Red Devils failed to qualify for the Champions League despite Ronaldo's 18 Premier League goals.

Despite this injustice, the Portuguese international will be boosted by the news that Liverpool is currently offering up 70% off car parking if he pre-books and a whopping 50% off their Duty Free selection. Now that sounds like a bargain even a veteran forward couldn't pass up.
