Manchester United have confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will not be part of their matchday squad for Tuesday night's match with Liverpool following the death of his baby son.
The Portuguese superstar and his partner Georgina Rodriguez confirmed the heartbreaking news on Monday, describing their newborn baby boy as an “angel” while adding that their baby daughter was giving the two "strength" amid the emotional pain.
A club statement from United on Tuesday read: "Family is more important than everything and Ronaldo is supporting his loved ones at this immensely difficult time. We underline the family's request for privacy."
