Cristiano Ronaldo to Celtic transfer shot down after Dermot Desmond tipped to roll out red carpet

Cristiano Ronaldo is at the centre of a madcap transfer tip that could lead him to Celtic - but Ally McCoist is having none of it.

The veteran Portuguese legend is one of the summer transfer window's top stories as he looks to engineer a way out of Old Trafford, with little success so far. Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has been busy in the transfer market and has stated he intends to remain active, but it would shock the world if Ronaldo was one of his targets.

According to former Scotland international and TalkSport pundit Alan Brazil, Celtic supremo Dermot Desmond should be doing his bit to try and give the Real Madrid icon the Champions League group stage football he craves. Speaking of the wantaway 37-year-old forward and his next move, Brazil claimed: “He wants Champions League football. Celtic? What if (Dermot) Desmond sends his private jet for him?”

Rangers icon McCoist though believes it's fantasy land talk, replying to the former Manchester United player: “There’s no danger that is happening. So forget that, just rule that out of equation."

Daizen Maeda, Benjamin Siegrist, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Alexandro Bernabei, Jota, Moritz Jenz and Aaron Mooy have all signed for Celtic this summer.

They started their Premiership campaign on Sunday with a 2-0 win over Aberdeen thanks to Stephen Welsh and Jota goals.
