Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a message to Manchester United after making his return to action against Rayo Vallecano.
Ronaldo started on his return up top but did not take the captain's armband in Harry Maguire's absence with that honour going to Raphael Varane. The 37-year-old had just the one key chance against the La Liga opposition but he skied it over the bar.
With the lack of minutes in his legs, Ronaldo was substituted at half time with Amad taking his place in the line-up. It was Amad who would score United's only goal of the game with a tap-in before the visitors equalised through Alvaro Garcia Rivera.

Ronaldo would go on to leave Old Trafford before the final whistle was blown. However, he took to Instagram to send a message to the club.
In a post he said: "Happy to be back." United return to Premier League action on Sunday when they take on Brighton and Hove Albion at the Theatre of Dreams.
