Cristiano Ronaldo sends Erik ten Hag message ahead of Manchester United opener vs Brighton

After months of speculation surrounding the future of Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United, the season is finally about to get underway with the forward potentially set to start against Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday.

Ronaldo has requested to leave the club and has been criticised after leaving the club's final pre-season friendly against Rayo Vallecano at half-time. United boss Erik ten Hag has had to field questions on the topic of his talisman's future but has insisted he remains a part of his plans.

Following an injury to Anthony Martial, Ronaldo could be set to start his side's match vs Brighton on Sunday, even though he's only played 45 minutes of pre-season football. Despite his lack of game time, the star has sent a message to fans and manager Ten Hag, insisting that he is ready for the new campaign.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner posted a message on his Instagram story, with a picture of himself during the Rayo Vallecano friendly accompanied by the message 'Ready'. This could be the strongest indication yet that Ten Hag will be able to call upon the forward this season.
