Cristiano Ronaldo has posted a cryptic social media message amid ongoing uncertainty over the superstar’s future.
Ronaldo left the World Cup in tears last Saturday after Portugal crashed out of the tournament at the hands of Morocco. The superstar forward became the first player to score in five different World Cups but will be aged 41 for the next edition of the tournament and is unlikely to still be involved for his nation.
Ronaldo ended his relationship with Manchester United by mutual consent last month, following his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan. He is a free agent and is hopeful of joining a new club in January. While Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr strongly linked with a move, Ronaldo’s future is unclear.
The forward has still not made any comment following the exit of former Portuguese national team boss Fernando Santos earlier this week. Santos had a reported falling out with Portugal captain Ronaldo after his decision to surprisingly drop him for the last-16 clash against Switzerland – which was justified as Goncalo Ramos netted a sensational hat-trick in his side's 6-1 demolition of the Swiss.
This led to claims that Ronaldo threatened to storm out of the nation’s World Cup training camp, which were criticised by the superstar, who alleged that “external forces” were trying to “break” the nation’s attempts of winning their first-ever World Cup.
In a fresh update, Ronaldo has posted a social media update of himself topless in a personal gym with a Portuguese song playing in the background. The lyrics, which are clearly audible in the footage, translate into English as: "You don’t know about me. Don’t cry more for me."
Despite opening the scoring in his nation’s first World Cup group-stage game against Ghana from the penalty spot, Ronaldo’s tournament did not go to plan. He failed to score against Uruguay and South Korea before being dropped for Ramos for the knockout matches against Switzerland and Morocco.

The striker was introduced as a second-half substitute in both matches but failed to make any meaningful impact on proceedings in either, culminating in his walking off the pitch alone at the final whistle after his side’s quarter-final exit last weekend. His future at club and international levels is unclear.
Ronaldo will celebrate his 38th birthday in February but remains determined to keep playing at the highest possible level and extend his career.
