Blyth Spartans have launched an audacious attempt to sign Cristiano Ronaldo - offering Manchester United a pie and a pint for his services in Northumberland.
The National League North outfit, who play in the sixth tier of English football, cheekily took advantage of the Portuguese megastar's predicament in the wake of a bombshell television interview with Piers Morgan. Ronaldo burned his bridges at Old Trafford by brutally slamming manager Erik ten Hag, who he has no "respect" for, and criticising the club's owners, the Glazer family, by making an astonishing claim that they "don't care".
In the wake of the 37-year-old's tirade, Blyth took the opportunity for some publicity - potentially inspired by fellow Non-League club Ashton United's plea to sign Manchester City striker Erling Haaland on loan during the World Cup.
