Cristiano Ronaldo names departure that damaged Manchester United as much as Sir Alex Ferguson

Cristiano Ronaldo believes that David Gill stepping down as chief executive in 2013 was just as hurtful to Manchester United as Sir Alex Ferguson's departure.

Ronaldo was speaking in his 90-minute sit-down interview with Piers Morgan, the first part of which was televised on TalkTV on Wednesday evening. Snippets from the talk have been released throughout the week and have already sent shockwaves throughout the game.

The 37-year-old has taken aim at former teammates, former managers, his current manager and United in general already. While his admitted lack of 'respect' for Erik ten Hag did not go down well with supporters, many have agreed with his frank assessment of the deterioration of the club under the Glazer ownership - whatever his motivation for airing his grievances at this time may be.
