Cristiano Ronaldo could be coming to Ibrox later this year - for a Champions League showdown as a Napoli player.
The veteran striker, one of the greatest to ever play the game, is out of favour at Manchester United under Erik ten Hag, with his second spell at the club not going to plan. He has been looking to force an exit throughout the window with new boss Ten Hag preferring other options to lead the line for the Red Devils.
A return to Juventus has been mooted, as has an emotional move back to Lisbon with Sporting CP. But Sky Sports now say Napoli are in the picture, with his agent Jorge Mendes reaching out to the Naples club. A potential deal could take Victor Osimhen in the other direction - it's claimed Napoli want upwards of £100million for the Nigerian hitman and Ronaldo could be used as a makeweight to keep that outlay down.
Luciano Spalletti's team are gearing up for a crack at the Champions League group stage, where they will of course face Rangers after today's draw. They've also been drawn against Liverpool and Ajax in what looks like a potential group of death.
It all means that Ronaldo could be set for a showdown with Van Bronckhorst and his team as he looks for one last stab at Champions League glory, having won the competition an incredible five times and scored more goals in it than any other player.
