Does Ronaldo start?
Jadon Sancho is subdued, Alejandro Garnacho is raw, Anthony Martial is injured and Anthony Elanga is not an obvious goalscoring threat. It would be logical to keep Cristiano Ronaldo in the United starting XI three days after his goalscoring return.
Yet it might also be an impressionable selection. United will encounter more physical and more intense opponents in West Ham and the serene evening against FC Sheriff is not a reliable gauge of individuals or the collective. They have played better with a fluid forward line.
Still, Ronaldo had vital impacts home and away against West Ham last season and, during the former, a West Ham analyst could be heard saying, "Ronaldo is killing us in those pockets." Ronaldo's positioning in the pocket led to United's winning goal and he dropped deep to decent effect against Sheriff.

Who comes back in?
It would be fair to say Sancho was dropped against Sheriff but that Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw were rested. Rashford and Shaw will almost certainly be recalled but nobody can be certain Sancho will be after he lasted three minutes of the second-half at Chelsea, where his final contribution was to play the ball into touch.
Lindelof or Maguire?
If Victor Lindelof is retained, the easy script for Harry Maguire's entourage is that he is barely a week back into training and there are still plenty of games before the World Cup starts.
Lindelof has started alongside Lisandro Martinez four times, spent two halves next to him and had another half-an-hour in his company at Chelsea. They have had ample playing time to familiarise themselves with each other ahead of what could be their most testing examination against West Ham.
More Moyes misery?
It was 20 years ago this month David Moyes first managed at Old Trafford and he has still not left the away dugout victorious in the Premier League.
Moyes's sole win as an away manager was with West Ham in last season's unmemorable League Cup third round tie. As an away manager at United in the Premier League, Moyes's record reads played 15, won 0, drawn four and lost 11.
Eight unbeaten?
Avoid defeat to West Ham and United will be eight games unbeaten. As impressive as it might seem, they recorded such a run last season that not coincidentally started with Michael Carrick's first match in caretaker charge.
