Cristiano Ronaldo breaks silence on Erik ten Hag appointment at Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo has warned that Erik ten Hag will need time to be a success at Manchester United, though he retains hope that the club will challenge for trophies next season.

Despite Ronaldo's goal-scoring exploits — for which he was crowned the Premier League's Player of the Month for April — United have endured yet another dismal season and their trophy drought has now stretched to five years. One thing the club did manage to achieve, however, was their aim of hiring their next permanent manager before the end of the campaign, however.

It was announced that Ajax boss Ten Hag would take charge in the summer last month after a £1.75million fee was agreed to release him from his contract in Amsterdam. The 52-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the option of a further 12 months.
