Cristiano Ronaldo and Man United dealt FIFA 22 TOTY snub but Man City stars included

Manchester United stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes have been left out of the FIFA 22 TOTY squad, with three Man City players making it in.

United striker Ronaldo had been in every single FUT TOTY squad since the promo was first launched back in FIFA 12, but misses out on a TOTY please for the first time since FIFA 20, following a trophyless season for club and country, despite scoring 39 goals in 50 starts for club and country in 2021. Reds midfielder Fernandes also misses out on a place in the FIFA 22 TOTY Final XI, despite scoring 19 goals and registering 17 assists for United in 52 starts.

Instead, Chelsea duo N'Golo Kante and Jorginho are included among the TOTY midfielders, following their Champions League-winning season and the Italian winning Euro 2020, with Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne also featuring following City's Premier League title win.

Two other City stars also make the cut, with central defender Ruben Dias and full-back Joao Cancelo both featuring among the FIFA 22 TOTY Final XI defenders, alongside PSG duo Marquinhos and Achraf Hakimi.

With no Ronaldo in the FIFA 22 TOTY Final XI, PSG forward Lionel Messi claims a place following his Copa America success with Argentina. But, there's no place for Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, with PSG striker Kylian Mbappe and Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski chosen over the Egyptian.

In total, five PSG players feature in the FIFA 22 TOTY Final XI, with Manchester City having three players featured, whilst Champions League winners Chelsea have two players included in the FIFA 22 TOTY Final XI.

  • The FIFA Ultimate Team TOTY promo is one of the most popular FUT promos in the entire calendar, with the promo rewarding the best performing players from the previous calendar year with incredibly boosted FIFA Ultimate Team player items.

But at the moment, EA Sports has revealed the FIFA 22 TOTY Final XI without full stats, these are expected to be revealed over the next few days.

When the Ultimate TOTY is released, the players are normally released in position order, with the attackers entering FUT 22 first, followed by the midfielders and defenders, all given two days each in packs. But, it remains to be seen if this format will be followed again for FIFA 22.
