Tortilla chips/crisps
Irish customers have been urged to check their presses after the Food Safety Authority issued a recall notice for a popular snack.
Batches of various brands of organic tortilla chips are being recalled due to the possible presence of tropane alkaloids.
Tropane alkaloids are naturally occurring toxins which are present in certain plant species.
Adverse effects in humans can include changes in heart rate, decreased salivary and sweat secretion, pupil dilation, dizziness, headache, and nausea.
Contamination of food can occur if parts (mostly seeds) of tropane alkaloid-containing plant species are unintentionally harvested with agricultural crops.
Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in stores supplied with the implicated batches.
See the below table for all recalled products:
Chicken Korma
An urgent recall notice has been issued by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) for a popular Dunnes Stores product amid an allergy warning.
Anyone who has bought Baxter & Greene's Chicken Korma recently should check their labels as cashew nuts were undeclared by the manufacturers.
This could represent a major issue for anyone with a nut allergy, with the FSAI and Dunnes recalling "several" batches on Monday morning.
The notice from the FSAI reads: "The implicated batches of Baxter & Greene Chicken Korma contain cashew nuts that are not mentioned on the label. This may make the batches unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of cashew nuts.
"Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in Dunnes Stores supplied with the implicated batches."
The affected batches are:
- Baxter & Greene Chicken Korma; pack size: 540g;
- Bar code 0262410000000;
- Best before: 25/07/22, 26/07/22, 27/07/22, 28/07/22 and 29/07/22
On July 13, Dunnes Stores was forced to recall a batch of their white floury baps due to undeclared allergens.
According to the FSAI, the implicated batch of Dunnes Stores White Sub Rolls was mispacked with Dunnes Stores Floury White Baps. They contain milk and eggs which are not declared on the ingredients list.
Therefore, this may make the batch unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of milk or eggs.
Check your freezer to see if you have any of the implicated batches which are pack sizes of 290 g with a best-before date of 17/07/2022.
