Crimson Desert is a behemoth of an open world action-adventure title from Pearl Abyss, the South Korean studio behind the incredibly successful Black Desert Online. From all the gameplay trailers shown so far, Crimson Desert looks to be a jack-of-all-trades open world title, a meaty sandwich of ideas influenced by some of the industry’s most beloved (and not so beloved) games, such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Red Dead Redemption 2, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing, and Crimson Desert continues to look impressive in its own right, with state-of-the-art visuals that are not powered by Unreal Engine 5, but rather Pearl Abyss’ proprietary BlackSpace engine. Irrespective of the kind of content you consume or look for in open world games, so far, it seems Crimson Desert has something to offer to everyone.
If you’re excited to get your hands on the game at launch, you’re in the right place. In this article, we reveal Crimson Desert’s release date, alongside a slew of story and gameplay details, as well as its PC system requirements.

Note: There have been rumors swirling around which suggests Crimson Desert will be launching an hour early in Europe and North American regions due to Daylight Saving Time. What can you expect from Crimson Desert?

Crimson Desert features a breathtakingly beautiful and enormous world full of varied activities, high-octane action combat that includes large-scale battles with mechanical dragons, and a character-driven fantasy story that unfolds from the perspective of its three distinct protagonists.
The adventure begins with Kliff Macduff, a mercenary from the Greymanes faction (members of which were mercilessly attacked and killed by rival faction Black Bear), but later introduces two other playable characters – Damiane and Oonga. Once they are all unlocked, you can switch between all three to explore and complete side quests in Pywel. Each character boasts unique fighting styles and has access to different traversal tools.
Speaking of traversal, Pywel is twice as big as Skyrim. Each biome looks vastly distinct with varied horizontal and vertical spaces to explore. From dense green forests to ravaging desert plains to sky temples, there’s plenty to discover and behold in Crimson Desert’s open world.
When you’re not sightseeing, you can indulge in various activities, such as managing Greymanes’ base camp, fishing, cooking, crafting gear, horse taming, and arm wrestling, among others. Simply existing in Pywell could take hundreds of hours, if not more.
Crimson Desert PC system requirements

Crimson Desert is one of the most visually impressive games of 2026. However, compared to that, its PC requirements are surprisingly modest, requiring only a 10-year GTX 1060 to run the game at minimum settings. The recommended settings aren’t demanding either, with an RTX 2080 being a sufficient GPU.
That said, as of this writing, it’s unclear what the targeted FPS and resolution settings are for minimum and recommended settings. As such, things could change, depending on your preferences and the game’s optimization.
Perhaps the most steep requirement of them all is the whopping 150 GB storage space with SSD mandatory, which shouldn’t be surprising given the kind of seamless open world traversal Crimson Desert wants to offer.
