A worker was hospitalized in “grave” condition after being trapped under debris when part of a building collapsed Thursday morning in Bronzeville.
The collapse occurred shortly after 11 a.m. in the 700 block of East Oakwood Boulevard, Chicago fire officials said.
Three workers were in the building working at the time of the collapse, officials said. When fire crews arrived, one person was unaccounted for but firefighters found the worker under debris about 30 minutes later, fire officials said.
The worker was trapped under three to five feet of debris, Deputy Chief Shaun Hayes told reporters at the scene.
