Creepy 'come play with me' message scrawled inside abandoned Scots school uncovered by urban explorer

Inside the walls of a derelict former school has been captured by an urban explorer.

Helenslee House in Dumbarton, formerly Keil School, was closed in 2000 when the institution faced financial difficulties.

The 19th century mansion was a private boarding school with around 200 pupils being educated there each year.

Until 1978 the institution was a boys only school.

The building was left to rot and suffered further damage after a fire in 2013.

Despite plans to turn the crumbling structure into flats in 2016, it has remained untouched.

Urban explorer Kyle Urbex captured photographs from behind the disused mansion walls.

Kyle said he could only view the ground floor after numerous staircases crumbled beneath his feet.

The 26-year-old photographer told the Record: "I decided to go there and explore because of the history behind Helenslee House.

"It is massive inside and surprisingly tucked away in a little estate.

"You can see how much it has decayed over time. It is quite unsafe inside - especially the stairs.

"The steps were crumbling away so I couldn't get to the upper floor.

"Trees have started growing into the building.

"The old classrooms have basically been striped away by damage.

"Everything was covered in rot and decay."

Photographs from inside show 'come play with me' scrawled along the wall in red paint and crumbling former classrooms.

One photo shows beams falling from the ceiling as the roof has begun to cave in.

An overgrowth of trees sits above the moss covered walls and graffiti tags can be seen on various parts of the building.

Kyle explored the building for around 45 minutes but left due to the dangerous state of the building as multiple floorboards were damaged.

Kyle, who is from Leeds, enjoys photographing forgotten buildings and documents his trips on Instagram account kyle_urbex.
