The first gameplay leak for Sega's Crazy Taxi and Shinobi reboots have just gone online and show off early development footage for the highly anticipated projects.

The development comes as a reliable insider shared early development gameplay footage for Sega's two reboot projects. This has also confirmed that the Crazy Taxi project will feature a competitive multiplayer focus.

Crazy Taxi and Shinobi Reboots

Sega has recently released several popular titles, including some games in the Persona and Like A Dragon franchises. However, many fans still complained about the lack of development from other games and series in the studio's storage.

The franchise that the company is probably most known for is the Sonic series but it is also the creator of Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Shinobi, Altered Beast, and many others.

The studio seems to have heard enough, and last year, it confirmed its plans to reboot the majority of them, according to TheGamer.

The reveal trailer shared during The Game Awards 2023 showed Sega's reboot projects and which ones are coming back over the next few years. These would include popular franchises such as Golden Axe, Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, and Shinobi.

At the time, players only got a brief glimpse of each one of the reboot projects but now the early development footage shows fans more of the reboots. In a post on X, "Ryan from the Bronx" suddenly shared a short video showing the Crazy Taxi and Shinobi reboots.

The footage for the Crazy Taxi reboot was reportedly recorded back in 2022 and shows a dynamic, fast-paced racing environment.

It also shows multiple vehicles zipping through a colorful landscape that is reminiscent of the original game's chaotic passenger delivery gameplay, said Technopedia.

A Fresh Take on a Classic

Official documentation describes the reboot as featuring "innovative and fresh style driving action." Sega promises to deliver a mix of nature and urban environments with a massive multiplayer experience.

But for now, it seems like the reboot is still several years away from an actual release so fans will have to wait a while. A potential target date for the Crazy Taxi reboot is seemingly set in 2027.

On the other hand, the footage for the Shinobi reboot featured the opening movie and some gameplay sequences. It featured some visually stunning side-platformer action that probably has fans of the series excited about its future release.

Sega's development team in charge of the Crazy Taxi reboot had a rough time transitioning from a single-player experience to a live-service multiplayer model. Fortunately, it seems like work on the game is progressing smoothly, according to Insider Gaming.
