Long delays are being caused after a crash between a car and a tram in east Manchester. The crash happened between Edge Lane and Cemetery Road Metrolink stations on Ashton New Road, Droylsden, around 4.40pm today (April 18).
The collision has part suspended tram services Ashton-under-Lyne line with services now only operating between Eccles and Etihad Campus stops. Metrolink tickets are being accepted on the 216, 217, and 219 bus services.
With this tram line being on Ashton New Road itself there are also severe delays to road traffic. Local bus services are also being delayed by more than 25 minutes.

A Transport for Greater Manchester Tweet said: "Due to a road traffic collision between Cemetery Road and Edge lane, the Ashton-Under-Lyne line is part suspended. Services will operate between Eccles and Etihad Campus. Tickets and passes are being accepted on the 216 and 217 bus services."
A Stagecoach Manchester and Wigan post said: "Route 216. An RTC involving a tram and a car is causing disruption at Edge Lane, that's caused delays of approximately 25 minutes on this service. Passenger loadings are busier that usual as we're accepting tram tickets on our 216/219 services as no trams are running to Ashton."
