Adam Reynolds hates losing and it is a mentality the Brisbane captain says his teammates share as they prepare to bounce back from their first loss of the season against Gold Coast.
The dressing rooms of the great Broncos teams of the past were dens of disappointment and lament after losing games.
Reynolds was still cranky when he fronted the media after the 20-14 loss to Canberra on Saturday night.
"I hate losing. You can probably ask my family. I've hardly talked to them all weekend," Reynolds said on Monday.
Brisbane are still on top of the NRL ladder, but Reynolds said his colleagues were filthy about their sub-standard display against the Raiders.
"Everyone was disappointed. It is not easy sitting in the change rooms after a loss like that," he said.
"We know we are a much better team than what we dished up on the weekend.
"If we are going to be serious in this competition we need to make sure we are on mentally, physically and emotionally every week.
"We want to win every week. When you come across a loss like that you self-reflect and look at where you can get better and that is something this team does really well."
The Broncos had numerous chances they failed to take against Canberra but their opponents were more enthusiastic, more physical and smarter.
While conceding the Broncos had done "a lot of great things" this season, the 2014 premiership winner said the loss was "a learning curve".
"There is no easy game in the NRL and you can't afford to be ten or five per cent off. On the weekend we were," he said.
The Broncos have won their past three clashes against the Titans in a showdown often tagged 'The M1 Derby', in reference to the freeway that links the Gold Coast and Brisbane.
Over the past five seasons they've won five games each.
The Titans host the fixture at Robina on Saturday night and can draw level with the Broncos on 10 points if they win.
"There are always good games between us and the Titans. They certainly love playing against us and we love playing against them too," Reynolds said.
The Broncos will be without prop Tom Flegler (concussion) but are set to welcome back workhorse forward Kobe Hetherington from a pre-season biceps tear.
Reynolds said he had no ongoing issues with an ankle injury he played through against the Raiders and would be fit to take his place in the side.
