Shellshocked Craig Gordon insists Hearts have to shake off their Ibrox hammering because third spot is not yet sewn up.
The Tynecastle side are 10 points clear of fourth-placed Motherwell but are wounded following their 5-0 thumping by Rangers.
Gordon couldn’t quite believe how his side went from pushing for a leveller at the start of the second half at Ibrox on Sunday to staggering off at the end having suffered a beating.
The Scotland keeper has warned the Gorgie squad there has to be a response against Dundee tomorrow night as they bid to be best of the rest.
He said: “It’s hard to think about that immediately after a sore defeat like the one at Ibrox, but we are still 10 points clear in third place and we need to focus on that.
“Winning games is what’s got us there and we need to keep doing that.
“I don’t think we’ve been out of any game apart from this one against Rangers which got away from us.
“So we need to dust ourselves down and go again. The job is absolutely not finished. There are still a lot of games to go.
“We are going to have to play a lot of good games between now and the end of the season, keep on picking up points.
“We are fully focused on the next one and trying to win that.”
Gordon is hoping it will be home sweet home this week with Livingston also coming to Tynecastle in the Scottish Cup this weekend on the back of Dundee’s visit.
He said: “We’ve now got a couple of games at Tynecastle coming up.
“We have to put the Rangers result behind us by getting a couple of wins.
“First and foremost we’ve got Dundee, who got a draw here the last time, so we are looking to put that right.
“We felt we should have won that game.”
Gordon wants to draw a line under the Rangers rout but he insisted the brutal scoreline wasn’t a fair reflection on the Jambos’ performance.
He said: “We were right in it up until the second goal, when they got a lucky deflection back into Morelos’ path and he finished it.
“It was an unlucky break for us. It came after we were having a really good spell.
“If we’d scored during that spell, it could have been a different outcome.
“Instead of going 2-0 down, if we’d equalised I felt we’d have been the team looking the likelier to get the next goal, so that was a big moment.
“But we also have to recover better from going 2-0 down and not allow the scoreline to get away from us the way it did.
“That’s something we have to learn to do better.
“It felt like a harsh scoreline in the end. They managed to take their chances and we didn’t.”
