Ulster winger Craig Gilroy has been banned for four weeks after his challenge on Scarlets' Tom Rogers was deemed reckless and dangerous.
Gilroy was shown a yellow card by referee Jaco Peyper in the first half of the match at the Kingspan Stadium for the tackle, which led to Rogers failing a head injury assessment.
In mitigating his sanction, Peyper pointed to Rogers' loss of height, which led to uproar among fans and pundits due to the carelessness of the Ireland international's challenge.
Ulster went on to win the match 27-15, with Gilroy crossing for the bonus point try in the 67th minute.
After the match, the citing commissioner issued a complaint about the tackle, which led to the winger being brought before a disciplinary panel.
The entry point was six weeks but Gilroy's ban was cut by two weeks due to his previous good record and behaviour during the disciplinary process.
He was not entitled to the full 50 percent reduction of his ban, however, because he refused to accept that he had committed an act of foul play that warranted a red card.
He will now miss matches against Connacht, Dragons, Cardiff and Leinster. He is free to play again at midnight on March 13.
