Craig David's stalker who claims they are couple smiles as she arrives at court

A woman who has claimed she is the girlfriend of British singer Craig David arrived at court grinning, as she challenged the protection order stating she may never see the singer again.

Tanya Jeal smiled as she began to climb the steps to the Bromley Magistrates Court in South East London with a single crutch, as the 'obsessed' fan appealed against the stalking protection order, reports the Daily Record.

The 31-year-old woman has not yet been convicted of stalking, but currently has an interim prevention order banning her from being around David for 12 months.

Jeal was wearing a cream cardigan, navy chino trousers, paired with sandals and socks as she struggled to walk with a crutch in her left hand.

During her earlier appearance at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court in January of this year, it was heard by the court that she had become 'obsessed and infatuated' with the singer and had been 'stalking' him since 2016.

Tanya had also claimed that she was Craig's serious girlfriend.

Craig David alleged that in November 2020, Jeal came to his home and rang the intercom several times, and even held up a photo that the pair had taken five years previous.

In January, the court also heard that Jeal had stayed at the same hotel as David, and waited for him to arrive and leave the premises outside.

Jeal also stood 'motionless' at the front of a gig in Bedford that David was performing at, holding the photo up throughout the concert, the court heard.

It has also been alleged that when Jeal was in the same hotel as David, she utilised fire exits to reach his room and subsequently stood outside his door, knocking several times.

She then allegedly sent a Snapchat photo of herself outside his door, with the message: "I know you love me".

The court heard that Jeal allegedly posted a note under the door, which read: "I hope Budda deals with lies like you.

"Budda will take this from here, you’re an a**hole, from Tanya, your motherf***ing girlfriend".

Jeal wants to challenge the order and the court heard she plans to call the chart topper as a witness to any proceedings.

So far David has not attended any court hearings with the Metropolitan Police obtained an interim Stalking Protection Order (SPO) on the singer's behalf.

Michael Rhimes, representing the force, told the court: "It is clear she is infatuated with him. It is clear she thinks he is her boyfriend. He is not."

He added: "She has made comments attempting to incriminate his managing team."

In January the hearing was a review ahead of proceedings which will decide whether to impose a full stalking order, this was moved to Bromley as it is closer to Jeal's home.

Rhimes also added: "She seems to think this is a Britney Spears-type situation where she thinks his management is exploiting him."

Today's hearing relates to case management of the hearing which will decide on whether the temporary order should be allowed to run out or a permanent order be slapped on.
